The fire happened on Memorial Day ... 05/29/2000
Thirteen years before the fire I hid some diamond jewelry before my then husband and I went on vacation. I had collected one nice piece of jewelry a year for years so it was no small stash! When I got home I could not, for the life of me find where I had hidden it! I looked EVERYWHERE! FOR YEARS!! I wouldn't throw anything away until I gave it a good once over looking for my jewelry. That went on for 13 years. The day my house was gutted I told the Lord, "Well, I guess I can finally stop worrying about THAT now!"
The fire happened on a Monday, that Friday my brother, his wife and daughter came to help me go through the mess. The house was gutted but the structure was still safe to go through...yes, the ceiling over the living-room was on the floor everything was completely black and pretty much destroyed, but we could still look for things that may not have burned. Amazing, I know! What we discovered was that things, like insulation, would fall on top of something else and smother the fire in that place... It was all still black, and nasty, but solid pieces could still be found. So we spent all day Saturday and half the day Sunday digging down into waist high piles of ashes in search of anything we might be able to find.
I was able to find a diamond cross even though it was totally coated with black wax from a melted candle and my sister-in-law found a black roll of gold jewelry (I use to sell jewelry) There were 60 necklaces, 10 bracelets and 12 rings...and all were fine! AMAZING!
On Sunday morning I woke up with the Holy Spirit telling me to look in a particular closet upstairs in my craft room. He didn't say why, or what I would find so I argued that I didn't want to, I knew what was in that closet and I didn't want to be bothered even if it had survived! I used that particular closet for storing a collection of ceramic Disney characters and other memorabilia that I had been collecting for about 25 years. Sure, some of it was valuable but at this point, it was just "stuff" that I didn't care anything about. But, I'm sure you too have been NAGGED by the Holy Spirit so you know what I mean when I say he would NOT let it go! "Go into that closet!" "No, I don't want to!" The main reason I argued was that there was an impossible pile about 4 feet high of burnt "stuff" between me and that door and it was no small task to get to that closet! But, I knew that if I didn't go ahead and get the job done the nagging would continue! So, I took the 30 minutes to dig a path and unblock the door enough to look inside. When I could get the door opened about a foot I looked inside and saw a wooden puzzle box that my brother had given me years before. It was charred but had not completely burned. When I reached in and pulled it out I heard my LONG LOST jewelry!!! The Lord had saved my jewelry for me! Not only that, He had shown me where it was! ... God Speaking...
Come back for "Part 3 - What about your necklace".

If you are here from Mattie's site and you want to know more about the week my house burned down and God speaking...start HERE. The story starts there, I'll have to write more...and I will, soon, I promise. Please come back for that because it was an incredible week! The Holy Spirit took me directly to some lost jewelry 2 times, and I got my birh certificate, passport and a new visa to Russia replaced and in my hands in FIVE DAYS!!! Everyone said that was impossible, but my God laughs at the word impossible! I was scheduled to go to Russia on a mission trip the next week so I never doubted that HE would make it happen! I went on that mission trip!
If you have been here before and wondered where I have been...simple, I could NOT remember my password! And I couldn't have it sent to me because I no longer have the email address this blog is listed under. Speaking of it, I'm going to go fix that right now.
OK.... I'm back, again... that was not as simple as I had hoped!! It wouldn't let me use my new email because I already had another account using that email... can't share emails!! BUT, there was a way to put it all together so I've been doing that....all better now.
I won't say any more tonight..I'm sleepy...

Ten Commandments
- 1. You shall have no other gods before me.
- 2. You shall not make for yourself any carved image, or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth; you shall not bow down to them nor serve them. For I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children to the third and fourth generations of those who hate me, but showing mercy to thousands, to those who love Me and keep My commandments.
- 3. You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain, for the Lord will not hold him guiltless who takes His name in vain.
- 4. Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days you shall labor and do all your work, but the seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord your God. In it you shall do no work: you, nor your son, nor your daughter, nor your manservant, nor your maidservant, nor your cattle, nor your stranger who is within your gates. For in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested the seventh day. Therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and hallowed it.
- 5. Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long upon the land which the Lord your God is giving you.
- 6. You shall not murder.
- 7. You shall not commit adultery.
- 8. You shall not steal.
- 9. You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.
- 10. You shall not covet your neighbor’s house; you shall not covet your neighbor’s wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his donkey, nor anything that is your neighbor’s.”
